Freshwater Pearls are cultured by the fishermen in freshwater lakes throughout the World.  They cultivate the pearls by placing small pieces of live tissue into Mussel shells where they continue to grow. 

I have made this necklace to a length of 17 inches and added a Sterling Silver lobster clasp plus a Sterling Silver 2 inch extension chain so that it can be worn longer.
