Blue Banded Agate Teardrops Necklace - 20 Inches Long
Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony. Agate stones are characterized by alternating bands of different coloured chalcedony and sometimes include macroscopic quartz. They are common in nature and can be found globally in a large number of different varieties. There are some varieties of chalcedony without bands that are commonly called agate (moss agate, fire agate, etc.); however, these are more properly classified solely as varieties of chalcedony. Agates are primarily formed as nodules within volcanic rock, but they can also form in veins or in sedimentary rock. Agate has been popular as a gemstone in jewellery for thousands of years, and today it is also popular as a collector's stone.
I have designed this necklace using very large Teardrop beads measuring 38mm long, 30mm wide and 6mm deep, Setting Blue Banded Agate spacer beads 6mm in between them and finishing the necklace off with a Nickel Free Gold Plated Toggle Clasp. The Toggle clasp makes it easy to connect and as the beads are large 20 inches long will be perfect to sit in an open neckline or just below a tight polo neckline.
